| Audio Optical A3 and Audio Optical A3 2xJack |
| |
| Audio Optical cables makes it possible to connect an external analog signal (for example from a PC) to the AUX input of the Active3 AD-box. |
|
The AD-box, the electrode and the subject are the isolated parts.
The USB Receiver, the acquisition PC and everything that is mains powered are the not isolated part.
|
| |
Mains powered equipment may never be connected to the isolated parts. Connecting something that is connected to mains to the isolated parts will destroy the perfect isolation (battery power supply & fiber coupling) of the Active3 system.
|
| |
The only and safe way to connect an external analog signal is by using an optical cable.
The BioSemi Audio Optical cable is supplied with a 2,5mm cinch cable, with which the Audio Optical interface can be connected to for example the audio output of a PC.
The USB-C to USB cable is used for providing power to the Audio Optical cable and may be connected to any USB port of the PC. If power is supplied to the Audio Optical interface, then the green LED on the Audio Optical interface will turn on.

| Input range: -500 mVolt to +500 mVolt |
| Bandwidth: 10 Hz to 5400 Hz |

| The difference between the AudioOptical A3 and the AudioOptical A3 2xJack is that the last version also has 2 mono 6,35mm audio outputs. These 2 audio outputs can be used for connecting to a headphone. An ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response) signal (from a hardware device or from a MP3 file) now can be fed (totally isolated) to both the subject (headphones) and be added to the real-time EEG stream (AUX inputs on Active3). |
